The Little Details

As the SONshine Home was preparing for a new resident – one coming from a few states away, fleeing a domestic violence situation – one who had found us from a desperate google search, we received a call from her.  She was scared, alone, and her voice quivered as she told us she wouldn’t be here at the time she hoped to because her car engine had blown in another state.  We offered to assist with a bus ticket; however she was able to find a friend to come and get her.  But she was worried it would be too late – would we still have space for her.  Our house manager, TJ, assured her that we had a room, and it was all ready for her to move into whenever she could get here.  There was a sigh of relief in her voice as she said, thank you and hung up the phone.

As we all prayed for her, I privately asked the Lord if He would help her to find a different vehicle.  This sweet one was already enrolled in college, had child care lined up for her precious one, had a job and desperately needed a vehicle.
About 2 hours later, I received a text from a local church partner that read: “Do you have a client that needs a car”?  As tears filled my eyes, I simply looked up and said, “thank you, Lord”.  Of course, I responded with a resounding, “YES”, we sure do have a client who needs a car.

The sweet mama and her darling baby arrived at the home a day or two after that call. What a precious baby, SO full of joy.  He has a full head of black hair, rolls for miles and a smile that could light up a room!

She was here, her child was here, and they were safe and LOVED.
Just a couple days later, I had the privilege of signing over a title to a new (to her) car – one that will last for a long time, one that is mechanically sound and safe for this precious Mama and her beautiful baby.

As I think about this sweet mama, I am reminded of how God cares about each and every one of His children.  Gosh, I wish you could see this sweet mama and her beautiful baby – SHE is my child, she is your child. But, most importantly, she is God’s child.  And He gives such great care to every tiny detail of our lives. Luke 12:7 states this so beautifully and intricately;  “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered…”! God cares about every aspect of who we are, because we are His creation, made in His own image (Genesis 1:27).

What a beautiful depiction of how valuable each and every person is to our God, our perfect Father.

Love you all, Heather
