This ministry was born from the joy of caring for our own children’s friends – many who lived with us for months or even years. It was then that we realized how many children lack safe, loving environments to thrive in. Their parents were often struggling with addiction, poverty, abusive situations, or just did not have the skills to parent. It broke our hearts and still does today. We knew we had to do something!
The SONshine Home, a safe, Christian environment for young Mama’s to be loved, to grow and learn skills needed to be out on their own is open! 85% of our mamas have received their hi-set or high school diploma, and one is still enrolled in traditional high school. 100% or our mamas and babies have access to pre- and post-natal care and ongoing medical care. 100% of our mamas are now in trauma-informed counseling. 100% now have access to food benefits, clothing, and basic necessities. 75% of our mamas are pursuing higher education, 100% of our mamas have entered the workforce. 100% are receiving life-skills training and financial literacy training. Many of our mamas are exploring their identity in Christ, and 20% have professed faith in Christ and gotten baptized.
To provide homeless pregnant or parenting young women with safe, loving housing and Christ-centered life-changing programs and educational opportunities to help them become self-sufficient.
We seek to make a difference in as many young lives as possible, to leave a lasting legacy, and to break cycles of poverty by teaching young mothers necessary skills to be empowered to aspire and achieve more.
Our goal is to impact generations… two heartbeats at a time by offering hope for these young women, to extend God’s grace and love, and to model a new perspective on a healthy home.
