Hello, SONshine Supporters!
Our hearts here at Love and SONshine Ministries in Billings are absolutely bursting with gratitude! We’ve just wrapped up our “Summer of SONshine” Girls Night Out series, and honestly, we’re still glowing from all the love and support we received from our amazing Billings community.
This summer was all about bringing awareness to the vital work we do here – providing a safe and nurturing home for pregnant and parenting teens experiencing homelessness. And boy, did Billings step up! We had incredible local business owners open their doors and their hearts to host some seriously fun and impactful events, all to benefit our diaper and feminine product fund. Because let’s be real, our incredible teen moms go through those essentials faster than toilet paper disappeared in March 2020! (You know the feeling!)
First up, we shopped ’til we dropped at our Shop Til You Drop night, and what a night it was! A huge thank you to the fabulous folks at Bumps’n’Bundles, Frae Collective, Aspinwall, Made for Home, SOMETHINGchic Clothing, and Veldt Clothing for creating such a stylish and generous evening. We snagged some amazing finds and the cutest drinks from Coco Cherie Creamiez knowing that every purchase was making a difference – talk about guilt-free shopping!
Then, we sparkled and shined at our Sparkle Night! Goldee Linx helped us add some permanent bling, Lucky Locks Billings gave us hair that was ready for any adventure, Light as a Feather Calligraphy shared her beautiful artistry, and Mackenzie Scheie Photography captured all the glowing smiles as we did our disco paint night. It was a night of pampering and connection, all for a beautiful cause.
Our creative juices were flowing at during multiple Craft Nights, expertly led by the wonderful teams at Veronica’s Candle Co and House of Colour (Billings West). We learned new skills, made some beautiful candles and jewelry, and enjoyed some serious girl time, all while supporting our moms and babies. Who knew crafting could feel so good for the soul?
And finally, we got our sweat on at our incredible Fitness Night hosted by the awesome crew at D1! It was a fun and energizing way to support our mission and feel good while doing it. Sore muscles and full hearts – the best kind of combination!
But beyond the fun events, the incredible generosity of these Billings businesses in using their platforms to share our story has been truly overwhelming. And it’s not just them – it’s every single one of you who came out to an event, spread the word, and offered your support. It’s a beautiful picture of what it looks like to be the hands and feet in our community.
The Bible calls each of us to use the unique gifts and talents we’ve been given to serve others. As it says in 1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” This summer, we saw this in action in a tangible way. The calligrapher used her art, the photographers their eye for beauty, the boutiques their flair for fashion, and the fitness instructors their strength—all to serve a purpose far greater than themselves.
In a similar vein, the Bible also calls us to care for the “widow and the orphan” in their distress. While our modern world looks different, the spirit of this command remains. Our teen moms and their precious babies often find themselves without a traditional support system, vulnerable and in need of a community to stand in the gap for them. And in a beautiful, humbling way, our Billings community has risen to be that family—using your time, talents, and resources to answer this very call.
The Love and SONshine Home isn’t just a building; it’s a reality because of this outpouring of love and support from individuals like you in Billings, Montana. You are directly changing the lives of our young mamas and their babies, helping them overcome homelessness and build a brighter future. We believe that together, as a community united by God’s love, we can truly break generational cycles and create a legacy of hope, two precious heartbeats at a time.
