A Heart Full of Gratitude This November
As Thanksgiving approaches, our hearts here at Love and SONshine Ministries are absolutely overflowing. Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of our maternity home in Billings, MT, and every success our young moms achieve is a testament to His faithfulness and the love He pours out through our incredible community.
Our mission is challenging: to provide a safe, Christ-centered home and life-changing programs for homeless pregnant teens and young mothers. But this year, we’ve witnessed the community become the literal hands, feet, and mouthpiece of Jesus, bringing hope and transformation to our families.
Confidence Closet: The Community Becomes a Reflection of Christ
One of the most profound examples of this love came to life through Kylie’s Confidence Closet. This was more than just an event—it was a powerful, beautiful demonstration of our community using their specific, God-given gifts to serve.
Imagine our beautiful young mothers—who are working hard, getting degrees, working jobs, saving for their future dreams, overcoming trauma, and mothering newborns—stepping into a place where all their efforts were honored. The incredible The Paper Mill on Montana Ave was magically transformed into a high-end fashion boutique and private salon. Hosted by the phenomenal Billings fashion influencer, Kylie Nelson (@_KylieNelson), our moms were the VIP guests of honor. They got a day to simply be treated like the loved daughters of the King that they are.
Kylie’s heart of gold led her to donate pieces from her own gorgeous closet and partnered with national brands, showing that influence is best used for good. An army of generous local businesses ensured our moms received a truly luxurious experience:
- Gourmet Treats: Delicious drinks and exquisite charcuterie were provided by Happy Pairings MT and Scheels Billings.
- Radiant Style: Our very own Lisa was there alongside professional stylists @Kreatedby.Kali to offer fresh haircuts and makeovers. High-end cosmetics from partners like Tarte Cosmetics helped every mom feel refreshed.
- Lasting Joy: The beautiful, permanent jewelry from GoldeeLinx served as a constant reminder of their inherent worth.
Every vendor—from the event planners to the photographers—gave their best with excellence, affirming to our moms that they are deeply valuable and cherished. This outpouring of specialized, professional service did more for their confidence than we could ever measure.
The Impact: Empowered Moms, Brighter Futures
Because of the kindness shown at events like Kylie’s, and the sustained support throughout the year, our mothers are empowered. Your gifts allow us to provide the stability needed for them to thrive:
- 100% of our moms and babies now have access to safe housing, food, and medical care.
- 84% have either completed their Hi-Set (GED equivalent) or are enrolled currently (above national average of 50%)
- 37% have pursued higher education or vocational training
- All are receiving trauma-informed counseling and Christ-centered spiritual guidance.
