I often find myself doubting God, thinking, “God, can You really make this happen? Will You really ALWAYS provide?” And every single time, God prevails.
However, it’s very difficult for us humans to put our entire faith and trust in God because we want to do everything ourselves. I know I always think, “If I don’t do it, it’ll never get done!” Thankfully, that’s not how God works. He calls us to trust Him and let Him work out the details according to HIS plan.
We see this unfold in the account of Ruth the Moabite, one of the most loyal women in history. When Ruth lost her husband, she lost the source of her stability and safety. But instead of remaining in her own country and seeking to remarry, she chose to leave everything behind to take care of her mother-in-law, Naomi, who had decided to return to Israel.
After arriving in Israel, Ruth set out to find leftover grain so that she and Naomi could eat. She happened to gather barley in the field of Boaz, a wealthy Israelite who was also a kinsman-redeemer in Naomi’s family. Eventually, Boaz married Ruth, which secured the future of both Ruth and Naomi.
I love this story because it shows that obedience and loyalty can lead us right to where we are supposed to be, even if it is hard to see at the time. Ruth had no idea that her loyalty would lead her to a better life, but God knew – and His plans included her being in the lineage of the Messiah! When we fully trust God and obey Him, He will lead us to a life filled with His blessings.
Scripture: But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.” Ruth 1:16.
